We celebrate the life of our beloved, Robert Parham, Jr. – Rob, Li’l Squeeze, Li’l Rob. Rob was born to his loving parents, Robert, Sr. and Louvenia Mathis Parham, in Putnam County, GA on January 28, 1954. He was the eldest of their five children and was dearly loved by his dad, mom, family, and friends.

Like his father, Rob was a hard worker with that big Parham heart! He attended Butler-Baker School and was a 1972 graduate of Putnam County High School.  He was elected class treasurer, played saxophone in the band, and traveled to Washington, DC on the senior trip.  The class remains close even until this day hosting many reunions including a Mexican cruise, and trips to Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, and the Grand Canyon. He dearly loved his classmates.

Immediately after graduation Rob was employed with Horton Homes, Inc. where he remained for over 40 years – first in the plumbing department alongside his mentor, the late “Cup” Waller who he came to love dearly.  Rob later worked in Quality Control and finally as a plumbing department supervisor all at Horton Homes. During this time Rob worked in his father’s business Westside Drive-In. Though only a boy he learned the business from bottom to top while watching and helping his dad.  He would later operate the business for his father then finally for himself.

Rob married his always and forever love, Sandra Clemons, on April 22, 1979. Telling her she needed a nickname, she forever became his “San.” The two spent 43 wonderfully blessed years together.  They loved spending quality time together and traveling with family and friends. Family gatherings on July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas, graduations, and weddings were his favorites. Going out to eat “just the two of us” or with classmates also brought him joy. Building his dream home with the help of his father and Uncle Cleve Jackson and others was another labor of love.

Rob was a faithful member of Clements Chapel Methodist Church under the leadership of his cousin, Pastor Mamie Sadler Caldwell. He dearly loved his Pastor, her family, and his church family. Rob counted being chosen a deacon at Clements as a great honor. He was also church treasurer and sang in the senior and male choirs. He enjoyed attending church revivals to fellowship with the brethren and to praise the Lord. His favorite scripture, John 14:6, and his phone ring, “My God is Awesome!”

Very civic minded, he was an early member of the Faithful Few Men’s Club with his father, uncle, cousin, and friends.  He later became a member of the local Democratic Party, the NAACP, Putnam Masonic Lodge #170, and the Boy Scouts of America #132 serving as troop committee treasurer.  Rob also served for many years on the boards of Eatonton Putnam Housing Authority Habitat and Humanity. He was a diehard Atlanta Falcons fan but gave up on them so many times saying they made it so hard to be a fan! He enjoyed those yearly Putnam Sports Club casino trips to New Orleans – Saints vs. Falcons. Rise up!

Our beloved was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert, Sr. and Louvenia Parham.  He leaves wonderful memories and lasting love with his wife, Sandra. Their devoted children:  Felicia S. Parham Silver (Reginald) of Concord, NC; Ashley K. Parham, Covington, GA; and Robert Parham, III, Eatonton, GA. Four beautiful grandchildren:  Ayanna, Alijah, and Arianna Silver, Concord; and Zaylen Humphries, Covington. Four loving siblings:  Frances Thornton, Patricia Perrett, Clyde Parham, and Brenda Murray (Melvin). His caring aunts and uncles:  Charles and Martha Parham and Dallas Parham; Frankie Mathis, Edmond and Petronia Presley, Mattie Mathis, and Willie Frank Mathis, Jr. Wonderful in-laws: Leila, Margaret, and Marrie Belle Clemons; Lynnette Jackson (Michael); William, Gregg, Kimberlli, and Karla Walker. Devoted cousins/brothers, Johnny Scott Griggs and Kevin Reid.  Special friends:  Sidney Bullard, Eddie Monday, Linda Booker, Alvin Butts, Lavoniah Sanders, Victor Reid, Bridgette Wheeler, Evelyn Crawford, and Helen Russell. Rob also leaves to cherish sweet memories numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
