Mr. Henry Jefferson was called home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2021. Henry was born on April 1, 1936, to the parentage of Willie Gene and Daisy Jefferson of Arlington, GA.

Unfortunately, Henry lost his parents at an early age; Henry’s grandparents took custody and raised him in a neighboring town called Blakely, GA. Henry ultimately moved to Eatonton, GA, where other family members had settled. He received his education in the Putnam School System, and became a strong and faithful member of St. John AME Church. He had good religious conviction, earning the nickname of “Rev.” Henry was always lending a helpful hand to the community and friends by transporting neighboring children to and from school. Henry united in holy matrimony with Hazel Johnson on October 22, 1961. To this union, three children were born: Marcia Harris of Lithonia, GA, Marcus Jefferson (Synthia) of Albany, GA, and Andrea Jefferson of Eatonton, GA. Henry worked in New Jersey in the summer months, then traveled to Florida in the winter months working as a cook. He also worked at Lippert Components in Eatonton, and he retired from the City of Eatonton as a meter reader for the water company. Henry had a love for riding in his clean Ford 150, wearing his cowboy hat with his big belt buckle. He also enjoyed baseball and loved the Atlanta Braves. He was a spiffy dresser, loved children and playing with his grandkids, gardening, and music; blues was his absolute favorite.

Henry Jefferson was preceded in death by: two sisters, Agnes Juanita Olds and Katie Gilbert; one brother, Willie Jim Jefferson, Jr.; one aunt, Agnes Jenkins; and others.

To cherish him in loving memory, Henry leaves: his wife, Hazel Jefferson; three children, Marcia Harris of Lithonia, GA, Marcus Jefferson (Synthia) of Albany, GA, and Andrea Jefferson of Eatonton, GA; four nieces, Melissa Gilbert, Bonnie Collins, and Betty Malone of Albany, GA, and Tia Olds Leach of New York, NY; one nephew, Reginald Olds of Lawrenceville, GA; five grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
