Darin Hurt

Mr. Darin “Cat” Hurt (age 58) was born March 23, 1965, at Putnam General Hospital in Eatonton, GA. The son of the late Luther Welch and the late Francis Hurt, Darin was called home to rest from an Atlanta healthcare facility on Sunday, November 5, 2023, following a valiant battle with cancer.

A Homegoing Celebration honoring Darin's legacy will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Free Gift Baptist Church in Eatonton, GA.

Growing up, young Darin earned his education within the Putnam County school system; his time in grade school was eventful and filled with the joy he found in playing football and basketball. Once Darin successfully completed his school days, it was officially time for him to take off and find his way in the world. A proud graduate of the Class of 1984, he did exactly that, boldly leaving home to dive directly into the workforce. After some searching, Darin found himself pulled into a construction-related field and was soon able to secure a lucrative employment opportunity with Key Curbing & Paving in Conyers, GA. In the following years he spent there working as a curb cutter, Darin was able to both develop and hone various concrete and asphalt workmanship skills before eventually returning to his native Putnam County. Some of Darin’s favorite pastimes included watching old westerns, which he loved, relaxing to soulful music, dancing like no one was watching, and preparing delicious meals for his family.

Darin is preceded in death by his mother, Francis B. Hurt; his father, Luther Welch; his grandparents, Lucy Hurt and Robert Coleman Hurt; and one brother-in-law, Harold Dennis.

To cherish his memory Darin leaves his wife, Dawn Ross; his seven children, Darin (Myeisha) Ross of Conyers, GA, Christine (Jamaul) Banks of Rex, GA, Cordarin (Kiera) Ross of Eatonton, GA, Deandre and Elisha Ross, both of Atlanta, GA, Dontavious Ross of Eatonton, GA, and Chiquita Ross of Arlington, TX; two siblings, Paulette Dennis of Eatonton, GA and Rickey Hurt of Hinesville, GA; thirteen loving grandchildren, Carey, Chaniah, Kayla, Malaysia, Journi, Katrice, Janiyah, Chyna, Jacob, Paris, Braxton, Jaxon, and Londynn; along with a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones, friends, and special friends.
